Child Safety ID Program

This program offers a service to members of your community, generates support for D.A.R.E. America and provides direct benefit to your D.A.R.E. program.

The Child Safety ID Program involves a safety event held in your community. Specially selected representatives, who have received training supervised by D.A.R.E. America, conduct the event.

As part of a safety event, the public is offered, FREE a Child Safety Kit. During the safety event, products including D.A.R.E. t-shirts and other child-oriented merchandise are displayed and available for purchase.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these products is donated to D.A.R.E. America. The program does not involve a solicitation for contributions from the public; what are offered are high quality goods at deeply discounted prices.

The funding provided enables D.A.R.E. America to fulfill its mission of providing high quality curricula, training, classroom materials and support for local D.A.R.E. programs.

During various times of the year a Toy Fair may be held in conjunction with a safety event. The public is offered the opportunity to purchase fantastic toys and educational items, all of which are provided to the local D.A.R.E. program. The local D.A.R.E. program chooses how the items are to be distributed to children in the community.

More information about Toy Fairs will be provided in a subsequent bulletin.

A Child Safety ID Program activity may be conducted at any high volume foot traffic location in your community. Safety events are conducted between the hours of 10:30 AM- 6:30 PM, Monday through Saturday.

Prior to an event being held permission is obtained from the concerned property manager, required permits are secured and advance notice is provided to concerned law enforcement agency.

The safety event is a great way to remind children and adults about good safety practices. Children familiar with the information provided and through role-playing with parents will be more likely to avoid finding themselves in dangerous situations.
